Farmhouse Pot Roast

5 pounds roast, trimmed

8 large red potatoes, cut into chunks

1/2 pound baby carrots

3 stalks celery, chopped

1 am onion, chopped

8 oz mushrooms, chopped

4 cloves garlic, chopped

2 T flour

2 1/4 c water, divided



Put roast in bottom of 5-6 quart crockpot. Top with potatoes, carrots, celery, onion, mushrooms and garlic.


Mix together flour and 1/4 c water; mix well. This will create your gravy. Pour over contents of crockpot.


Pour in remaining water.


Cook on low for 10-12 hours, or until beef is done and falling apart. Stir until beef is shredded. You can remove fat or leave it in; I give mine to the pups.


*You can omit potatoes if you’d like to serve over top of mashed potatoes instead.
