How to Roast a Pie Pumpkin
PH oven to 400°. If your pumpkin has a stem, snap it off.
Cut your pumpkin with a large, sharp knife.

Scoop out insides of pumpkin with a scoop.

You can separate the seeds from the pulp to plant next spring or to roast for eating. Just soak in water and separate. Toss the pulp in your compost, and wash your seeds again. Dry out completely. I use a baking sheet and put them where the dogs can’t get them, so they can dry.

Line your baking sheet with either silicone mats or parchment paper.
Place pumpkin halves cut side down.

Bake 45-60 minutes. When you can easily cut the pumpkin skin, it is done.
Remove from oven and allow to cool completely.


Scoop all the cooked pumpkin out of each pumpkin half into your food processor.


Process until fully smooth, like canned pumpkin. Now you can use in your pie recipe or freeze for future use. It also makes healthy dog treats.
