
Easter Dirt Cake

This is one of my kids’ favorite Easter desserts and they love to decorate it. We’ve used dyed green coconut flakes for grass, the little malt eggs, Bunny and chick peeps, gummy worms, white chocolate dyed orange dipped strawberries (to look like carrots), etc.
Dirt Cake
Serving Size : 16
Prep time: 45 minutes; Cook time: 22-28 minutes; refrigerate 1 hour
Cake:
3 ½ c whole milk
1 (3.4 oz pkg) instant vanilla pudding
1 (3.4 oz pkg) instant chocolate pudding
15 oz Oreos, crushed
1 stick butter, softened
1 block cream cheese, softened
1 c powdered sugar
8 oz cool whip, thawed
Decoration:
Gummy worms
green coconut flakes
Easter: bunny peeps, orange covered strawberries (to resemble
carrots), mini Cadbury eggs
Halloween: Cookies decorated to look like ghost and tombstones
Prep work:
-Crush Oreos; set aside
Cake:
In two medium sized bowls, whisk together half the milk into each flavored pudding. Place in the refrigerator to set.
In stand mixer, cream together butter, and cream cheese. Beat until well combined and completely smooth.
Add powdered sugar to cream cheese mixture; beat until completely smooth.
Add vanilla pudding to the Cream cheese mixture, be on low speed to combine. Fold in half the Cool Whip until mixed together.
Add other half of Cool Whip to chocolate pudding until mixed together.
Layer in trifle dish in this order: Vanilla, pudding, mixture, chocolate, pudding, mixture, cookie crumbs, adding gummy worms to each layer, and ending with cookie crumbs at the top of the dish.
Decorate for appropriate holiday.
Refrigerate overnight. Serve cold.
